Question 682846: A person that is two meters tall is walking around the earth. At the equator how much farther does their head travel compared with their feet?
Answer by ptaylor(2198) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Circumference (C)=Pi*Diameter(D) or C=PI*D
Circumference of earth in meters (distance feet traveled) is:
C=Pi*D--------------formula 1
Circumference defined by head in meters (distance head traveled) is:
Ch=PI*(D+2)=PiD+2*Pi----formula 2
Subtract formula 1 from formula 2 to see how much farther the head traveled compared to the feet
Ch-C=2Pi meters~~~~~6.28 meters---answer
Hope this helps---ptaylor
