Question 681502: Solving linear systems
Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If you are not directed to use a particular method, like substitution of elimination,
then put each equation into slope intercept form and set them equal to each other and solve for x.
With the x value, plug it into either equation anf solve for y.
The resulting (x,y) point is the solution.
...
You may find the result of setting the linear equations equal is a true statement, like 10=10,
or a false one, like 3=9.
These indicate where the system is dependent, the same line in the case of a true statement, or inconsistent, parallel and never intersect as in the case of a false statement.
