Question 671707: Please I need help to solve these word problem:
I want to give each child here 9 cookies, but I lack 11 cookies for that. If I give 4 cookies to each child, I would have 9 left over. How many children are here? How many cookies have I?
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let children be x
Total cookies be y
9x=y+11
9x-y=11
4x=y-9
4x-y=-9
subtract the equations
5x=20
/5
x=4
children = 4
Plug x in the equation
cookies = 25
