Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Starting with,
-6(t-7)-(t+1)=5
Distribute the -6 and the -1
-6t + 42 - t - 1 = 5
Combine like terms
-7t + 41 = 5
-7t + 41 - 41 = 5 - 41
-7t = - 36
t = -36/-7
t = 5 1/7
