Question 644737: If a+b is negative, then |a+b|=?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In general, |x| = -x when x < 0. For example, |-2| = -(-2) = 2

So if a+b < 0, then |a+b| = -(a+b) = -a-b

Therefore, |a+b| = -a-b when a+b is negative
