Question 643822: How do you solve multi step equations if you are in an algebra class in middle school? Ex. 6p - (5p + 5) = -8 - 2 (p + 12)
Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You would do it this way:
6p-(5p+5) = -8-2(p+12) First, simplify both sides.
6p-5p-5 = -8-2p-24 Now combine like-terms.
p-5 = -2p-32 Next add 2p to both sides.
3p-5 = -32 Now add 5 to both sides.
3p = -27 Finally, divide both sides by 3.
p = -9
