Question 641545: n - 1/6 = 8
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If the 6 is only under the 1 (but not the n), then....

n - 1/6 = 8

n = 8 + 1/6

n = 8*(6/6) + 1/6

n = 48/6 + 1/6

n = 49/6

----------------------------

OR

If the 6 is under the "n-1", then...

----------------------------

(n-1)/6 = 8

n-1 = 8*6

n - 1 = 48

n = 48+1

n = 49
