Question 630174: 2|x+5|-7=5 the "|" are absolute value symbols
Answer by 55305(86)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First lets add 7 to each side:
2|x+5|= 12
Now lets divide each side by 2:
|x+5|= 6
Now, since there are absolute value symbols, x+5 can be equal to 6 or -6. So if x+5 is 6, then x is 1. But if x+5= -6, then x= -11. So x is -11 or 1.
