Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x^2+20x-8 = 0
Divide thru by 2 to get:
x^2 + 10x -4 = 0
----
Use the Quadratic Formula:
x = [-10 +- sqrt(100-4*1*-4)]/2
-----
x = [-10 +- sqrt(116)]/2
------
x = [-10 +- sqrt(4*29)]/2
------
x = [-10 +- 2sqrt(29)]/2
----
x = -5+sqrt(29) or x = -5-sqrt(29)
