Question 554785: you+you+you=uuu. What does you represent?
Answer by richard1234(7193) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Assuming y,o,u are digits, we know that 3u ≡ u (mod 10) so 2u ≡ 0 (mod 10) --> u = 0 or 5. However u cannot equal 0 so u = 5. We obtain this because if we add the numbers in a similar way to column addition, the units digit of you+you+you is the same as the units digit of uuu --> 3u and u have the same units digit.
Since u = 5, uuu = 555; 555/3 = 185. Therefore you = 185.
