Lets do l and s for large and small numbers.
The smaller of two numbers is nine less than five times the larger number would give us:
s=5*l-9
If four times the smaller number is subtracted from 7, the result is 43 would be
7-4*s=43
-4s=36
s=-9
Sub in -9 for s
-9=5*l-9
0=5*l
l=0
s=-9
