Question 541206: I have a math placement test for college next month. Is there anyway you can email a lesson a day so I can get my brain ready for it? Havent done math in a while.
Answer by KMST(5328)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Email may not be the best vehicle, and anyone trying to help you would need to know where you are, to figure out where to start, and any particular deficiencies (holes) in your math knowledge.
If for whatever reason, a live tutor (online or in person, and likely at a cost) is not an option, find your deficiencies first. You could take an online or downloadable practice test. Search for placement test on the internet). Maybe you can even get the same type of test you are going to take next month. Many colleges use Accuplacer, but probably you can find if that's the test you are going to take. The answers to the practice tests are usually available. You would know for example if you have trouble with logarithms, but are really good at quadratic equations and factoring polynomials. (Some answers come with explanations, but they maybe just as confusing).
After taking a practice test, you can ask us about the particular questions you get wrong. I know that many questions are not answered. The flow of questions is way too fast.
In the thank you note for any answer you get, you could include a plea for help, or offer a deal for personal lessons, or ask for an answer to another question that went unanswered. The thank you note will trigger an automated email to the person who answered your question, and the email you gave when you registered will be included in the tank you note. I get one thank you for every 4 or 5 answers I post. I see it on the website, and it also appears in my email inbox, forwarded by the algebra.com website. Only reading that note in my email, I can see the email address of the person who thanked me. Sometimes, if the thank you message includes a comment that merits an answer, I email a response to the person who thanked me. The ones who do not thank me for an answer remain a complete mystery to me, perfectly anonymous.
For now, I could not email you a "Good luck!" if I wanted to. You are perfectly anonymous to me. You are just "Question 541206 from test," and I do not even know if I ever answered a question from you before.
