With this Sq rt x+8=x-4
Square both sides:
x+8=(x-4)^2
Expand this out to get:
x+8=x^2-8x+16
Subtract 8 & x to get:
x^2-9x+8=0
factor:
(x-8)(x-1)=0
Solve for x
x=8
x=1
Check the answers:
1 doesn't work
8 works
