$5 coins y
x/3=y+1
x=3(y+1)
x=3y+3
2x+5y=39
1 x -3 y = 3 .............1
2 x + 5 y = 39 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by 5
Multiply (2) by 3
5 x -15 y = 15
6 x 15 y = 117
Add the two equations
11 x = 132
/ 11
x = 12.00 12
plug value of x in (1)
1 x + -3 y = 3
12 + -3 y = 3
-3 y = 3 -12
-3 y = -9
y = 3.00
