Question 457218: Little Joseph has just bought a brand new 5 foot one piece fiberglass fishing pole at a local sporting goods store. He goes to get on the bus to go home and the bus driver tells him he may not bring anything on the bus longer than 4 feet on the bus. Joseph is sitting on the bench crying when his older brother Michael comes out of the store, asks him what is the matter, and tells him not to worry that he would fix it. When the bus comes, Joseph gets on with his fishing pole and the bus driver welcomes him. The pole was not bent or broken. What did they do?

My guess would be that Joseph is taller than 5 feet and hides the
fishing pole in his clothes somehow.
