Two kids, ages x & y
then
10x + y = grandma's age
:
"The three of them are 73 years old all together"
x + y + (10x + y) = 73
11x + 2y = 73
2y = -11x + 73
y = x +
y = -5.5x + 36.5
The value for x has to be less than 6 avoid a negative number or a decimal
There is only one single digit positive solution to this equation
x = 5, then y = 9
