We can turn this into an algebra problem by assuming that the integers are x, x+1, x+2, and x+3. Their sum is 178, so

x + (x+1) + (x+2) + (x+3) = 178

4x + 6 = 178

4x = 172, x = 43, so 43, 44, 45, 46 are the integers.

Add them up
4x+6=178
4x= 178-6
4x=172
/4
x=43
43,44,45,46
