The sequence is an arithmetic sequence with a1 = 35, d = -4. Then . We want an > 0. So 39 - 4n>0, or 39> 4n, or n = 9. So there are 9 rows. Then a9 = 39 - 4*9 = 39-36 = 3. Thus there are 3 plants in the last row. There plants all in all.
