Taking it a step at a time

1) the amount of sq ft to be carpeted

10ft*14ft = 140ft^2



2) amount carpet would cost

140ft^2*$3.50/ft^2 = $490



3) carpet plus installation fee

$490 + $225 = $715

4)Amount of tax at 6%

.06*$715 = $42.90



4) total cost

$715 + $42.90 = $757.90
