Starting with:
2x^3 - 2x^2 - x+1
.
Group terms:
(2x^3-2x^2) - (x-1) Notice the sign change on the second term!
.
Factor left term:
2x^2(x-1) - (x-1)
.
Factor common term:
(x-1)(2x^2 - 1)
.
.
You could leave it the way it is or consider the second term as a "difference of squares" giving you:
