length = 4x

Area of rectangle = L*W
Area =144
4x^2=144
divide by 4
x^2=144/4
take aquare root of both sides
x=12/2
x= 6 ft. the width
.
length = 4x = 4*6=24 ft. the length
CHECK
6*24= 144 sq. ft
