Question 25546: i alwayz freeze up on test and i have a test tomorrow how can i get out of freezing up on them
Answer by rapaljer(4671)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I wrote a whole BOOK on this topic! The best thing to do is do ALL the homework and everything else you can find to do in preparation for the test! Unfortunately, this is something you had to do LAST week, not tonight! If you have already done the work, then you should maybe do a practice test the night before the test. Some instructors provide these, others do not! I always do, and I have LOTS of them on my own website under each course that I teach. If your instructor did not give you a practice test, then you should make up your own by taking a sample of each type of homework problem and putting answers if available for you to look at AFTER you finish taking your own test.

The best antidote to freezing on a test is to have done SO MUCH HOMEWORK that it is almost natural for you. Then remember that hopefully the test will be just like the homework, and you will do well for it because you are PREPARED for it!!

To summarize in a sentence, I would say there are two elements for test taking: 1. PREPARATION!! 2. REST -- don't go into the test tired!

If you have done the work, then try to relax and have confidence in yourself. When you first begin the test, do a "memory dump" of writing down on a the test or on blank paper AFTER THE TEST IS HANDED TO YOU, all the formulas and things you will need to know on the test, before you have a chance to get nervous. Try to get to the test just a few minutes early, so you won't be rushed, but not too early so you will be sitting around thinking about it and getting nervous. Concentrate on one problem at a time, and don't worry about problems on the second page while you are still on page one. Always do the easy problems first. If it's a timed test, keep an eye on the clock but don't let it worry you. I could go on and on. If you send me an Email I might be able to send you a chapter out of my book, but it will probably not be in time for the test tomorrow.

Good luck on the test!! But then as I always tell my students, "It's NOT luck! It's preparation!!! "
