The students at King High School are in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. Of all of the students, 1/4 are in grade 9, 1/3 are in grade 10, and 1/6 are in grade 11. If there are 300 students in grade 12, how many are in grade 11?
----------------------------------------------------------
Let x be the total number of students.
1 - (1/4 + 1/3 + 1/6)
1 - [(3+4+2)/12]
1 - [3/4]
The fraction in grade 12 is 1/4
-----------------------------------------
Equation:
(1/4)x = 300
x = 1200
-----
(1/6)1200 = 200 in grade 11
