Answer by ptaylor(2198) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Distance(d) equals Rate(r) times Time(t) or d=rt; r=d/t and t=d/r
Average rate(speed) is defined as the (total distance)/(total time)
a.) Average speed=(800 mi/x hr)=(800/x)mi/hr
b.) So, x=6, d=rt=(800 mi/x hr)*6 hr=(800/x) mi/hr*6 hr=(4800/x) mi
