You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The population of a town is 35,400 people. If twenty two percent of the towns population works in the automobile manufacturing plant, how many people work at the plant?
-------------------
22% is 0.22. 35,400*0.22 = 7,788
...Dring the course of a week 16% of vehicles tested failed a vehicle emissions test. If 72 vehicles failed the test, how many vehicles were tested?
-----------------------
72 is 16%, so 4.5 is 1%
The total that failed, 100%, is 100 times 1%, or 100 x 4.5
= 450
