Question 1204006: Solve for x, using tables
log0.8621 (base 12)

Answer by Edwin McCravy(20066)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

I don't know what sort of table your teacher gave you,
probably a table of base 10 logs. In the olden days
we used tables, but now everybody uses a calculator.
But look up those two base 10 logs in your table and
divide them.

If your teacher has taught you anything about "mantissas"
and "characteristics", let me know, and I'll help you with
that.
