Question 1197276: Two rectangles whose respective dimensions are 3 by 4 and 12 by 16 (all
in inches) are revolved about corresponding sides as axes. Find the lateral areas of the cylinders of revolution if the rectangles are revolved about their shorter sides.

.

These dimensions are not "respective dimensions".

They are simply "dimensions".

Also, the "corresponding" sides do not correspond to anything.

They are simply shorter sides.

The way to solve it is to find, to learn and to use the standard formula for the lateral area of a cylinder.

As soon as you will find and will learn this formula, substitute there the given data and calculate.

It is as simple as 2 x 2 = 4.
