1(a) The Government wants to know how they would intervene in balancing educational gap among regions in a country. Some regions are known to be more educationally backward than others. Also of interest is how quickly they secure their first jobs after graduation.
(a)(i) Obtain data required for government policy along these lines, making sure of full representation across regions, districts etc. (Do not copy existing data online).
(ii) What sampling method is the best one to use?
(iii) Give reasons for your choice in (ii)
(b)(i) Display the information you obtained from 35 respondents as single data points (ungrouped)
Classify according to
Variable X: Age at graduation
Variable Y: Age at first employment
For the following questions assume that the data you collected and presented in (a) above is the entire population.
(ii) Take a sample of 20 from population I(on age of graduation). Test the hypothesis on the population mean. Choose the assumed population mean to differ from the sample mean by 1.4. Use
(iii)Now randomly draw two different sample of size 10 and 12 respectively from your population of 35 data points for variable Y (Age at first employment). Is there a difference between the means?
(iv)Obtain the regression equation of y on x and regression equation of x on y. Obtain all the necessary parameters and statistics required to do so.
