find the value of y if the mean of 22, 18, (2y+1) 10 and 20 is 25
= 25
Multiply both sides by 6
22+18+(2y+1)+10+20 = 6*25
2y + 71 = 150
2y = 150 - 71
2y = 79
y = 79/2
y = 39.5

150/6 = 25

In your post, it should be EITHER comma between (2y+1) and 10, OR the multiplication sign.

But not the "blank space", which violates the logic of your post and makes the problem/(the post) non-sensical.

Also, do not consider the "solution" by @ankor@dixie-net.com seriously,
since in his first line formula he uses INCORRECT total number of terms in the sequence.
