you want the line parallel to y = -3x + 5.
the slope intercept form of the equation of a straight line is:
y = mx + b
m is the slope
b is the y-intercept.
if your line is parallel to the given line, then the slope has to be the same.
the equation of your line becomes:
y = -3x + b
to find the value of b, use a point on the line and replace y with the y-coordinate and x with the x-coordinate.
using the point (-4,5), you will get:
5 = -3 * -4 + b
this becomes 5 = 12 + b
solve for b to get b = -7
your equation becomes y = -3x - 7
