Question 1121160: Answer Checking.
Let f(x)=-1-x-2x^2, evaluate fx(x+h)-f(x)/h
Factor out the negative sign for the final answer, if any.
my answer is: -4x-2h-1
if my understanding is correct about the instruction above. my final answer would be: 4x2h1
is it?

Your answer is the opposite of what it should be. So you are NOT interpreting the instruction correctly.

When your answer is

-4x-2h-1

and the instructions say to factor out the negative sign in the answer, then the correct answer is

-1(4x+2h+1)

In other words, when you factor out the negative 1, that factor doesn't disappear; it is still part of the answer.
