Question 1081904: An architect drew the blueprint for a new office building. He used a scale in which 1 inch represents 7.5 feet. The floor of an office in the building will have actual dimensions of 16 feet by 23 feet. What will be the approximate dimensions on the blueprint?

Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1 inch = 7.5 feet

if you divide the number of fee by 7.5, you will get the number of inches.

if 7.5 feet, then 1 inch.
if 15 feet, then 2 inches.
etc.

16 feet / 7.5 = 1.133333..... inches.

this is equivalent to 2 + 2/15 inches.

23 feet /7.5 = 3.066666..... inches.

this is equivalent to 3 + 1/15 inches.

on the map, the floor will be 2 and 2/15 inches by 3 and 1/15 inches.
