Question 517938: 2× + 3 = 16
Answer by xkatiexprime(4) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 2x + 3 = 16
2x = 16 - 3
2x = 13
x = 6.5
you just separate the variable from the constants, switching operations (+ become -, etc.) when you move a constant to the other side of the equal sign.
you can always check if your answr is right by subbing in your answer into the equation. so...
2x + 3 = 16
2(6.5) + 3 = 16
13 + 3 = 16
16 = 16
therefore the answer is 16 for sure now. :)
