Question 12576: It's been a long time since I had to use this stuff. I want to know how to calculate shipping and handling percentages and tax percentages. Here's an example:
$256.50.....with a 40% discount, then
$102.60.....with a 6% shipping and
then I need to figure out a state tax percentage 7.0%
and I need the answer, the whole total and how it was calculated.

I feel so stupid but I just don't understand percentages at all.
For example, I may get a question like: There were 150 people at a concert. 60 of the people there were female. What percentage were female. I know that you have to make a fraction with the two numbers 150/60 the divide then times by hundred. It's the times by a 100 bit I don't understand which bit are you supposed to times the numerator or the denominator???
I am 13 very confused and this is causing me to lose marks in my tests. When I ask my tutor she just says times by a hundred!! It is driving me crazy,
