Question 950181: Hello, i do not understand how to answer these two similar questions
#1 Jamie earned scores of 96, 92 and 84 on three exams. What percent score is needed on her last exam to earn no less than a grade A (90%)?
#2 A student has test scores of 68%, 75%, and 79%. What must she score on the last exam to earn a 75% or higher in the course?
Answer by macston(5194) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
PROBLEM 1:
To average 90% on four exams, the sum of the scores must be 4*90=360
Jamie has earned 96+92+84=272 360-272=88, so Jamie must score at least 88% on the fourth exam to average 90%.
PROBLEM 2:
Once again four scores, this time a 75 average so the sum must be 4(75)=300 and the sum of the first 3: 68+75+79=222 And 300-222=78, so the student must score a minimum of 78 on the test to average at least 75% for the course.
