Question 874488: If an image on a computer screen is increased 100%, then it's area increases by what percent?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
When you increase each dimension by 100%, you are doubling each dimension.
When you double each dimension, the area is multiplied by 2^2 = 4.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For example, let's say we start with a square screen that's 1x1, so the area is 1*1 = 1 square inch.
Now double each dimension to get a 2x2 screen of area 2*2 = 4
Notice how the area jumps from 1 to 4 (1*4 = 4)
Change in Area: 4 - 1 = 3
Divide this by the original: 3/1 = 3 ---> 300%
The area increases by 300%
