Question 716721: If 25% of a number is 12.5, what is the original number
Answer by jndarrell(58) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A proportion is great for these.
new number over the original = % over 100
12.5/x=25/100
Cross multiply
25x=1250
Divide both sides by 25 to get the x alone
x=50
To check your work, plug the x value into the original equation and work the same steps through.
