i have an answer of 320 after a 60% increase, what is the original number?
----
Let the original number be "x":
Equation:
x + 0.60x = 320
----
1.6x = 320
x = 320/1.6
x = $200

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A 60% increase is the same as multiplying the number by 1.60
That number is found by divideing the 60% by 100. and Then adding 1 so that the nuber is increased rather than decreased.
So 1.60*X = 320
Divide 320 by 1.60
