Hi,
find the original price of a pair of shoes if the sale price is $56 after a 60% discount
P - .60P = $56
P(1-.60) = $56
P = $56/.40

say the price is 100
with 60% discount the sale price is 100-60=40
so for 40 as sale price the original price is 100
& for 56 as sale price the original price is 56*100/40=140
