SOLUTION: The number of people at this year's walkathon was 12% higher than last year. If 1344 people walked this year, how many people walked last year?
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let the number of people last year = x
and we are given that this year there is 12% increase ...so
number of people walked this year = x + 12%
or on solving we get = (112/100)x
now we are also given that 1344 people walked this year ....so we get
(112/100)x = 1344
multiply both sides by 100 and we get
112 = 134400
divide both sides by 112/ ,,,and we get ...
x = 1200
so number of people walked last year are 1200...
Hope this will help you
