There are twice as many girls as boys in a class.
Let x = no. of boys
then
2x = no. of girls
and
3x = total no. of students
:
50% of the girls & 80% of the boys have finished their test,
.5(2x) = x girls have finished
.8x boys have finished
:
what percent of the students are still working on the test?
x girls still working on the test
.2x boys still working on the test
then
= * 100 = 40% of the students still working
