Identify the is, of and percentage. Call the unkown variable X.

43,000/X = 80%/100

cross multiply

80x= 4,300,000

Solve for X

x= 4,300,000 / 80

x=53750
43,000 is 80% of 53,750.

Because a percent % is , you have

43000 = 0.8 * number
or
