What is a percentage?
A percentage shows you how many parts from the whole you have. 100% or 1 mean the complete quantity. A percentage is the top part of a fraction whose bottom part is 100.
For example, there are 100 pens in a bag. if you take one pen it is 1 % or 1/100; if you take 50 pens it is 50% or 50/100 = 1/2 and so on.
Finding the Percent of a Number
To determine the percent of a number do the following steps:
1.Multiply the number by the percent (e.g. 40* 20% = 800)
2.Divide the answer by 100 (Move decimal point two places to the left) (e.g. 800/100 = 8)
