Question 25567: when there is a problem that says find two consecutive integers the sum of whose sqaures is 130...
how would you set it up?

Answer by longjonsilver(2297)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
two consecutive integers: like 5,6 or 123,124.

Algebraically we would have x and x+1 as the two numbers.

So, is the equation.

Expand the bracket, collect terms, simplify, factorise and get 1 or 2 answers for x.

trouble is....the solutions are not integers, so either you made up the Q or mis-wrote it.

Anyway, the method is correct
