The word problem translated into an algebraic equation is
12 = .6*x where is the number you are looking for. THINK ABOUT THIS SO THAT YOU CAN SOLVE FUTURE PROBLEMS.
Next divide both sides of the equation by .6
You now have 12/.6 = x but 12/.6 = 20
so x = 20. Check your answer by multiplyimg 20 by .6
