The teacher gives a test. The results are as follows: 10 A's, 42 B's, 15 C's, 8 D's and 2 F's. What percentage of the class received B's?
---------
x/100 = 42/87
x = 100(42/87)
x = 48.27
Ans 48.27%

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First find the fraction of the class that got B's
and then convert the fraction to %
The fraction that got B's is
(number of B's)/(total number that were tested)
42%2F%2810+%2B+42+%2B+15+%2B+8+%2B+2%29+=+42%2F77
42%2F77+=+6%2F11
6%2F11+=+.5454
Now I want to convert this to percent
I know that .5+=+50%
This is a little more that .5, or 54.5%
approximately
