"Diana and James were selling tickets for their upcoming softball game. James sold 20% more than Diana. If they sold 55 tickets total, how many tickets did each of them sell?"

James sold %= more than Diana.
if Diana sold tickets, than James sold tickets
If they sold tickets total, then




so, Diana sold tickets
and James sold tickets

Then James sold 1.2D
With both selling 55, we get: D + 1.2D = 55
