Question 1129755: Khairul wants to buy a sofa set. He is offered three successive discounts of 10%, 20% and 25% and he can arrange them in any order he wants. Which order will benefit him the most? explain your answer.
Answer by math_helper(2461) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
No matter which order the discounts are applied, Khairul will pay (0.9)(0.8)(0.75) = 0.54 of the original price.
That's a 46% overall discount.
This is so because of the commutative property of multiplication: abc = acb = bca = bac = cab = cba
