50000 x 0.17 = Rs. profit
(Rs. profit/47000) x 100 = profit percent if sold for 47000

If a motorcycle is sold for Rs 50000 at the profit of 17%, it means that some-when earlier it was bought for 


 =  =  Rs 42735.04.


So, if it sold for Rs 47000,  the profit would be  


 = 1.0998 - 1 = 0.0998 = 9.98%.
