Micah originally had a salary of $30,000
It was raised by 1.5%
1.5% = 0.015
Since the 1.5% boost is in addition to his $30,000 salary, the decimal is 1.015.
1.015*30,000 = Micah's new salary
30,450 = Micah's new salary
Not much of an improvement there.
